The firmware update screen will appear.Rotate the Main Dial and the Quick Control Dial to select the "Firmware Ver.x.x.x" item at the bottom of the "Set-up 3 (Yellow)", and then press the button.
If the file size does not match, then download the firmware update file again.
It seems you've tried everything but you are supposed to do this without a lens on the camera, you could try that if you haven't.Īpart from that you can get Canon to upgrade firmware free I thinkA power failure during the firmware writing operation may disable the camera. Thanks all I tried both of those without success Sometimes these updates require that nothing else be on the memory card except the update.
Section 4 has the instructions on how to use EOS Utility to update the firmware. The extracted file from the download also creates a folder: "update-procedure-pdf". If none of this helps and if the camera is still working normally, aside from the update installation not, then it sounds like it's either off to Canon service unless you can get along without the update or the camera while it's off being fixed. Since there's no user changeable clock/memory battery the camera it can sorta reboot itself if the main battery is left out for an some period of time, see bottom gray area on page 40, however there's no mention on how long the battery needs to be left out.
Have you tried a different battery? Also try resetting the camera settings to factory, see page 61 in the manual. I did try a different memory card and downloading it again but no luck BTW is the camera currently working normally otherwise? If not then something may have hiccuped somewhere and bricked the camera's firmware which would then need to be sent in to Canon Service. ^ If that doesn't fix it then download the update 1.1.2 from the Canon support site again.
This may be obvious but have you tried a different memory card? I am trying to update this from 1.05 to 1.1.12 but it just gets stuck on loading 8% and then runs the battery down - any idea how to fix it? Canon 7D MKII firmware update going very wrong.
